Mozambique Rovuma River
The Rovuma River is one of the major rivers in southeastern Africa, with a total length of approximately 800 kilometers. It rises in the highlands of Tanzania and flows eastward, forming the border between Tanzania and Mozambique before emptying into the Indian Ocean. The river is known for its rich biodiversity, with a variety of fish species, including tigerfish, catfish, and tilapia, as well as many bird species, such as the African fish eagle and the kingfisher. The river also supports agriculture and fishing activities in the region, providing water for irrigation and sustaining local communities. However, the river is also subject to periodic floods, which can cause damage to crops and infrastructure.
Unity Bridge connects Tanzania and Mozambique over the Ruvuma River, which is a different river located to the south of the Rovuma River. The Unity Bridge was built in 2010 and is an important transportation link between the two countries, facilitating trade and commerce
