Mozambique Machangulo

Machangulo is a peninsula located in southern Mozambique, near the city of Maputo. It is known for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and stunning natural landscapes.

Machangulo is a destination for tourists who come to enjoy a range of activities such as swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and diving. The area is also home to a diverse range of marine life, including dolphins, whales, and sea turtles.

To reach Machangulo, visitors can take a boat or drive from Maputo to the Santa Maria Peninsula, where they can catch a ferry or boat to the Machangulo Peninsula. The journey takes approximately 1-2 hours, depending on the mode of transportation

Access to Machangulo  

Access to Machangulo is primarily by water transfer, with visitors able to take a boat from Maputo Bay or Inhaca Island to the reserve. The journey takes around 90 minutes to 2 hours by boat, depending on the departure point.

Alternatively, visitors can take a flight from Maputo International Airport to Machangulo Airstrip, which takes around 25 minutes. From there, visitors can easily travel to the reserve by boat.

To get from Maputo to Machangulo, you can take a boat or drive. The journey involves traveling to the Santa Maria Peninsula, which is located approximately 25 kilometers south of Maputo, and then taking a boat to the Machangulo Peninsula. It's important to note that the  boat schedules can vary depending on the season and weather conditions, so it's recommended to check with your accommodation or local tour operators for the latest information.

The drive to Machangulo takes you through The Maputo National Park. It's about 200km and takes about 3 hours from Maputo. You'll see wildlife and beautiful scenery along the way. You'll need a 4×4 vehicle because of the sand road condition. 

Some of the lodges in Machangulo also offer transfers from Maputo to their properties.
